This battalion was created on the 4th of October 2004 as a result of the reorganizing process of the Romanian Army. It functions in Focsani and it is subordinated to the 8th LAROM Brigade.
It constitutes the main way of target aquisition for artillery and it is an important link in the process of target management. It provides high precision data without which the strike subsystem can’t have the desired effect. It has a modern equipment used to provide weather reports (Vaisala Weather station) to the artillery units in NATO system as well as regional system.
