During the last 4 years, Romania’s active role in maintaining the stability and regional security increased significantly.
The high professionalism of the personnel in our unit is the reason why a large number of military persons in our brigade were or are still present in various theaters of operations involving Land Forces: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Afghanistan, Iraq.
Now all the personnel is professional. Since October 2004 there are no more conscripts in the structures subordinated to the Brigade, but only contract enlisted soldiers.
Learning English is one of the important goals of the Ministry of Defense for its entire personnel.
Therefore, a Secondary Center of Learning English was created in 2001 which can hold 6 groups of students and which is subordinated to this Brigade. Its goal is to improve the English knowledge of the military personnel according to NATO standards. The Center is equipped with a modern phonetic laboratory and it is located in Focsani, on the same unit as the Brigade’s Headquarters.
The 8th Mixed Artillery Brigade, as well as the entire Romanian Army, is in the middle of a reorganizing process.
The first important reorganizing process happened in November 2001, when the artillery battalions in the structure changed to regiments as independent units, subordinated to the 8th Mixed Artillery Brigade’s Headquarters. It was then that the units from Tecuci and Barlad became subordinated to this Brigade. These units also underwent important transformations and personnel restructuring.
The second reorganizing process took place in October 2004 when the present structure came into effect. At present the brigade is composed of:
- 4 combat units;
- 2 combat support units;
- 1 logistic support unit.
